JURGEN KLOPP'S FINAL SEASON AT LIVERPOOL DISAPPOINTING REVIEW
After a very disappointing 2023-2024 Season, Liverpool made several changers to their Squad.Key players like Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and others like Nabi Keita and Oxlade Chamberlain were all either sold or left the Club after their contract expired. In turn, players like Man Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Endo Wataru(who was signed in the January transfer window) were brought in to replace the players who left. All these players were signed mainly to stabilize and bring creativity to the Liverpool's midfield, qualities which were sorely lacking in the previous Season were teams were able to cut through Liverpool at will without breaking a sweat.
Liverpool started the Season at a slow and steady rate, but began to build momentum after a good run of form which put them in a three way Premier Lesgue Title race with Arsenal and Manchester City, so much that Liverpool were in first place for much of the first two months of the Year and not only that, they were also in contention for the EFL Cup which they won, an FA Cup and Europa League Title. All seemed to be well until they were knocked out of the FA Cup in a heartbreaking fashion thanks to a last minute goal, they would soon star to falter in the League, losing to Arsenal,Crystal Palace and Everton and drawing against the likes of Man City and West Ham to all but ensure that they would slip out of the title race along with fact that they were also knocked out of the Europa League by Italian Side Atalanta ensured they will finish this season with only the EFL Cup out of what could have been a potential quadruple. What makes this so disappointing is the fact that it;s the final season of Jurgen Klopp's tenure as a Liverpool manager and that they actually had the quality and the right amount of squad depth to win all the trophies in what could have been a historic season(it's easier said than done) but it was still a possibility.
Klop wasn't helped by the fact that his forwards were misfiring in important games which could have led to a vastly different outcome. The guilty culprits were Luis Diaz, Mohammed Salah and Darwin, Liverpool's main frontline this Season. They were massively wasteful , especially Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, in games against Crystal Palace, Man Utd, Man City and West Ham were they were missing chance after chance after chance.Mo Salah wasn't much better either, although he's Liverpool's main top scorer in the Premier League, his form has left a lot to be desired as he too, the like Diaz and Nunez has been missing chances you would expect the Mohammed Salah of old to bury in his sleep.Well they can take solace in the fact they will place Champions League next season..
